DANIELLE WILLETTE - OUR VOICE FOR CHANGE FROM BELOW, NOT FROM ABOVE

Voting period Oct 14-24, 2022

As a local Mom, born and raised in the City of Kawartha Lakes, I have seen and experienced firsthand the progressions and hardships that our City has faced throughout the years. I have a passion for both advocacy and for creating change.

Now, you may be asking yourself, “What makes a local Mom qualified to serve us on council?” Well, the answer is this: I hold a Bachelor of Science (Psychology), a Graduate Certificate as a Communicative Disorders Assistant, and I am nearly finished my Human Resources Management Certificate. As an employee, I have worked under multiple government ministries, including the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. I have worked with disadvantaged populations (individuals with disabilities, individuals experiencing addictions/mental health difficulties/homelessness/poverty, single-parent households, etc.). I have worked in the Ontario Autism Program, and the field of employment services.

The skills and knowledge that I bring to the table are unique and are currently not seen on council. Having knowledge of and experience in navigating social services will be crucial in addressing many issues that we are currently seeing in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Change must come from below, not from above. Let’s change this community for the better, together.
